About FASA

FASA (Financing for Agri-SMEs in Africa) is a multi-donor fund-of-funds managed by I&P that aims to mobilize capital for agricultural SMEs in Africa.

FASA’s mission is to reduce the funding gap faced by agri-SMEs in Africa by 1) mobilizing catalytic capital, 2) enhancing the capacity of investment fund managers to invest in impactful agri-SMEs, and 3) fostering a supportive ecosystem.

As a fund-of-funds, FASA's activities primarily focuses on investment fund managers, who will then provide funding and support to agri-SMEs aligned with FASA's mandate, which is to contribute to transform African agriculture by enhancing food security and nutrition, improving livelihoods, and offering climate-smart agricultural value solutions.

FASA is currently being deployed. The Portfolio Officer will play a central role in its day-to-day operations and governance,  ensuring rigorous portfolio monitoring and timely reporting, while supporting ad-hoc coordination.

 

About the Role

I&P is seeking a mid-level Portfolio Officer to strengthen the coordination, monitoring, reporting and operations functions of FASA.

This is a hands-on, cross-cutting position combining analytical rigour with operational discipline. Working closely with FASA investment team and reporting to the Finance & Operations Manager, the Portfolio Officer shall take ownership of monitoring tools, data consolidation, file management and reporting tasks.

While funds selection and assessment remain the responsibility of the investment team, the Portfolio Officer is a key day-to-day interlocutor to monitor the progress of the pre-investment process and lead post-investment monitoring and reporting.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

a. Portfolio Monitoring

  • Maintain and update funds monitoring frameworks, including KPI consolidation tools, portfolio dashboards and analytical tables
  • Coordinate the collection of financial data from fund managers on a quarterly and annual basis, and ensure data quality and consistency
  • Support the team in handling their governance duties, and ensuring all files are duly completed and archived
  • Produce ad hoc analyses on FASA performance and activities as well as its portfolio funds progress
  • Coordinate the transfer of the portfolio into a new system (MIS)

b. Reporting

  • Support the preparation of annual and quarterly FASA’s related reporting , ensuring compliance with the specific format and content requirements of the legal documentation
  • Organise the systematic collection of inputs from the various teams and help consolidate them into periodic financial and narrative reports
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports and materials for governance bodies (Advisory Investment Committee, Steering Committee) and donor review meetings; ensure timely circulation and follow-up
  • Liaise with the FASA administrator and other team members to support financial reporting and audit processes

c. Link with back office

  • Support FASA accounting and treasury processes in liaison with the Finance & Operations Manager and the fund administrator: prepare and ensure completeness of capital drawdown, provide all necessary documents for compliance including KYC
  • Set up a valuation methodology for FASA, support the investment team in applying it  and manage the audit queries on this regard

d. Governance & Coordination Support

  • Help track governance decisions at the investees level and ensure they are recorded and escalated at the appropriate level
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a fund-level risk register and to risk reporting for governance bodies
  • Provide day-to-day coordination across the team to keep procedures, tools and documentation aligned and current
  • Support the Program Director in coordinating the various components of FASA and help the team to ensure a good project management

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in finance, accounting, audit, international development finance or a related discipline
  • 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in fund operations, portfolio monitoring, financial management of international programmes, or donor compliance and reporting; prior exposure to investment activities is a plus
  • Ability to build and manage operational tools and processes: monitoring frameworks, templates, archiving systems and reporting schedules
  • Interest in in investment-related activities and agricultural SME finance and agri-climate sector in Africa
  • Rigorous, structured and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple deliverables across different workstreams and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment while maintaining high standards of documentation and process discipline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to contribute to high-quality financial and narrative reports for international donor audiences
  • Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory
  • Strong command of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and IA tools; experience with portfolio management or fund administration tools is an asset

Position Details

  • Location: One of I&P’s offices in Sub-Saharan Africa hosting a FASA presence — Ghana, Kenya, Côte d’Ivoire or Sénégal.
  • Start date: As soon as possible.
  • Remuneration: Commensurate with experience.
