Spark and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) present the 4th IGNITE Conference 2016: Tackling Instability, Radicalisation and Forced Migration.

This year’s conference focuses on how we can tackle root causes of instability, radicalization and forced migration in Africa, the EU and the Middle East, with special attention on the role of entrepreneurship, higher education and leadership in fragile states.

The program features keynote speeches from international experts including Oxford economist, Sir Paul Collier, the President of Mosul University, Dr Al Dewachi, successful Liberian entrepreneur, Mahmud Johnson. The day is packed with interactive workshops and masterclasses, interviews and networking opportunities for entrepreneurs, investors, practitioners, policy makers, academics and students.

Three out of five fragile or conflict-affect states (FCS) tend to fall back into crisis within five years after the end of a violent conflict. What should we do differently to increase investment in African FCS to contribute to sustainable economic and social development of fragile states that will eventually contribute to stability? This workshop will feature a debate on ways to effectively promote sustainable investment in FCS, as a means to respond to fragility, and its expected contribution towards these countries’ development agendas. The session will put forward a few ideas and seek diverse views from panelists.
