The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Investisseurs & Partenaires (I&P) gathered on November 30 in Dakar to celebrate the new partnership, announced last October, that consists in launching an innovative impact investing and entrepreneurship acceleration program in Sénégal, Burkina Faso, and Niger.

The event, hosted by Dalberg and co-organized with the Aspen Network of Entrepreneurs, aimed at convening diverse actors across the impact investing community in the Sahel region to learn more about the partnership and the value of local capital and talent in the impact investment community.

• Olivier FURDELLE, Director of Teranga Capital, one of the three funds supported by the partnership

Olivier Furdelle specializes in impact investing and financing SMEs and entrepreneurs in Africa. Olivier has 20 years of professional experience, among which he led since 2009 several investment transactions in SMEs and start-ups in various countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Previously, he was Vice-President Business Development & Planning at Belgacom, Belgium's leading telecommunications and ICT player, where he managed mergers & acquisitions and equity investments in start-ups. Previously, he co-founded a start-up and was also a consultant at Accenture and KPMG.

Jérémy HAJDENBERG, Chief Investment Officer at I&P

Jérémy Hajdenberg, Chief Investment Officer at I&P, is a microfinance specialist. He has been working with African entrepreneurs for several years, accompanying them in their management and development strategies Jérémy Hajdenberg worked in two associations dedicated to microcredit, in France and in the Philippines. He decided to pursue his career on this path, halfway between finance and development, by joining I&P in 2004 where he identifies and brings support to entrepreneurial projects in Africa.

• Olatunji AJANI, West Africa Regional Chapter Coordinator

Olatunji joined ANDE as its West Africa Regional Chapter Coordinator, based in Lagos, Nigeria, in February 2016. His past work spans across business development, management consulting and social development. Prior to joining ANDE, he was a Lead Consultant with Green Insight Solutions and a Business Development Manager for E-Green Services. He also co-founded an online resource portal that helps micro businesses connect with funding opportunities, resources and tools to grow their businesses. He has a BSc from University of Ibadan and is a StartingBloc Fellow.

• Elizabeth EZE, Associate Partner at Dalberg

Elizabeth joined Dalberg as an Associate Consultant in the Dakar office. She has worked with corporate clients, foundations, and NGOs. Her engagements have focused on strategic planning for new initiatives, program and impact evaluation, policy analysis, and market entry strategy across the business, agriculture, health, ICT, and education sectors. Elizabeth is a member of Dalberg's Agriculture Practice Area.Elizabeth started as an Associate Consultant, and was subsequently promoted to Consultant and Senior Consultant.

Investisseurs & Partenaires (I&P) is an impact investment group dedicated to African Small and Medium Enterprises. Since its creation in 2002, I&P has invested in more than 50 companies, located in 15 African countries and operating in various sectors of activity (health, transport, microfinance…). The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) is a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets. ANDE members provide critical financial, educational, and business support services to small and growing businesses (SGBs) based on the conviction that SGBs will create jobs, stimulate long-term economic growth, and produce environmental and social benefits.

Teranga Capital is an equity impact investment fund dedicated to promising SGBs in Senegal, with financing needs comprised between 75,000 and 300,000 euros. Alongside with long-term finance in the form of minority equity participations, Teranga Capital provides very close management coaching to support the growth and consolidation of the SMEs in portfolio (sales and marketing, accounting, ESG dimensions…)
