O. Lafourcade in Addis Ababa for the 1st African Philanthropy Forum
Submitted by admin on Thu, 02/27/2014 - 10:59Olivier Lafourcade, chairman of IPDEV took part to the first edition of The African Philanthropy Forum held in Ethiopia on February 24th and 25th.
This meeting sponsored by the Global Philanthropy Forum gathered the most famous philanthropy actors (The Tony Elumelu Foundation, The Rockfeller Foudation, TrustAfrica…) as well as numerous political leaders such as Ethiopian Foreign Affairs Minister Tedros Adhanom or else Mrs Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, chairman of the African Union Commission. This year’s theme was “Access, Equity and Opportunity” while the various conferences tackled topics as essential as the inclusion of marginalized populations in the African economic growth process, food security and new strategies for philanthropy.
Mr. Lafourcade presented Investisseurs & Partenaires’ business model during the conference entitled “Impact Investing: Bridging Philanthropy and Investment for Greater Social Wealth” with Malik Fal, CEO of Omidyar Network in Africa, Frannie Leautier, Mkoba Private Equity CEO et Désirée Younge from The Tony Elumelu Foundation. The animation of this panel was undergone by James Mwangi, partner associate of Dalberg Global Development Advisors.
Olivier Lafourcade was himself moderator for the panel called in for « Inclusive Business to Address Societal Goals », gathering Anthony Haggar, Haggar Holding Company’s CEO, Darlington Mandivenga, CEO of Econet Services et James Mwangi, CEO of Equity Bank Group .
